Only you can climb the mountain, no one can do it for you. If you choose to wait, you will wait forever. What do you have to lose? It only goes up from here…
How many days have you wasted thinking (maybe more like wishing) things were different? When you look back at the amount of time you did this, had anything changed? Likely not, as change does not come by waiting and doing nothing. You know this truth, yet you don’t do anything about it. Whether it’s laziness, fear, anxiety or other reasons, many will find an excuse to justify not moving forward. Stop and think about this irrational process.
When you were younger and going to school, no one told you that you needed to learn new things. Every year, you had to learn new skills or new concepts to be able to move to the next grade level. You just accepted it and did it, and for that, you were rewarded by becoming incrementally more responsible, intelligent and having a better understanding of the world. Even though your younger school years may have been tumultuous and stressful, for this lesson, focus your understanding on the learning process of those years. You really made significant progress (and grew dramatically) during those years due to learning new concepts and skills every year. Again, you may have hated those years and remembered it being very challenging times, but it was those tough times that also made you stronger and smarter.
When you are out of school and working, it is up to you to continue the learning process. Whether you have an office job or taking care of family members at home, you are still being challenged to learn new skills on how to handle various situations. Think of your daily tasks as another grade level….you keep learning it (as hard as it may be) until you get it. Instead of looking at work or your daily responsibilities as stressful (or dreaming of one day not having them), think back to how you handled learning in school…you just did it and you learned. In elementary school, writing a sentence or adding two numbers together was a hard task, but it’s not hard now. It is because you did it so much, it’s easy now. Learning and mastering new skills is one of the most important aspects of success and thriving in this world.
